General Information

1. Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet's Artistic Director, Choreographer, and/or appointed faculty have the authority to make casting decisions.

2. Dancers must accept the roles assigned to them. Roles are assigned according to the dancer's specific capabilities and the requirements of the overall production. Under-studies are expected to learn assigned parts and to be able to step into the part if needed. Not all dancers will necessarily be used in every performance.

3. The Artistic Director and the Board of Directors may require periodic evaluation of the dancers.

4. Dancers must be on time and ready for all classes and performances as scheduled, unless previously excused. Any unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the Company. Special consideration will be given to important personal, church, or school events, providing notice is given at least two weeks in advance of the event.

5. Senior and Junior Company members may not perform with any other dance company unless permission is given by the Artistic Director.

6. Dancers may not use the name of Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet in conjunction with their name unless permission is given by the Artistic Director.

7. Dancers must accept responsibility for keeping the studios, practice, and performing areas neat and clean at all times.

8. Dancers must be neatly groomed and keep to the weight set for each individual by the director. Hair must be long enough for the classical styles.

9. Senior and Junior Company dancers and their families are required to participate in and be supportive of all projects and activities of Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet.

10. Dancers are required to attend a two week summer workshop (classical ballet intensive) to stay in shape.

Apprentice Program

1. Apprentices are chosen by open audition. Length of apprenticeship lasts one year.

2. Apprentices must sign and adhere to the company contract agreement, and abide by all requirements to which full members of the company adhere.

Financial and Volunteer Obligations

1. Each family must commit to working 4 hours for Nutcracker and 4 hours for Spring performance. These hours can be worked by family members or friends.
