In 2012, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet created the Chance to Dance program in partnership with Volunteers of America of North Louisiana to bring classical ballet to underserved students in our community.

Through this program, SMB provides instruction in classical ballet to an average of forty 3rd through 5th grade students each year at a VOA LightHouse site. In addition to teaching students ballet technique and history, the SMB artistic team creates original choreography for the students and prepares them to perform in our annual spring production alongside SMB company members. They join SMB company dancers in free school performances for Caddo and Bossier parish students as well as an evening performance for the community.
