Calling Dancers Ages 5-10!

The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet is excited to announce open auditions for its 2025 production of The Nutcracker. Auditions will be held on Friday, September 5th at the SMB Studio in Shreveport. Your dancer will be auditioning to perform in ONE of the two shows. Dancers must have previous ballet experience:

• 5-6 year olds = 1 full year

• 7-8 year olds = 2 full years

• 9-10 year olds = 3 years

If your dancer has the previous ballet experience for their age group and is currently enrolled in a ballet class at a studio of their choice, they are welcome to come audition for SMB’s minor cast for The Nutcracker.

• Check in Time: 5:00

• Audition Time: 5:30-7:30

*5-6 year olds could finish auditions early - please be close by.

*Audition does not guarantee casting. Roles and production information will be emailed no later than Wednesday, September 10th.

Rehearsal Obligations

• There will be a mandatory parent meeting at the first rehearsal from 1:00-1:30 for all those cast as a minor cast dancer in the production.

• Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays at Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet beginning September 13th and continuing through December 6th. Precise rehearsal times will vary by role.

• Full Cast Rehearsals will begin Saturdays starting October 25th at Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet.

• Your dancer is allowed 2 excused rehearsals with 2 weeks notification so our Artistic Director can plan rehearsals.
